“Universally, women with personalities are hated” – Billie Eilish

It’s 1994 and powerhouse record label managers, Craig and Darren, have created the girl-band to end all girl-bands. They have been moulded, twisted, and worked to become the girls that everyone wants. The Sensation Girls. Problem is, The Sensation Girls don’t know who they are anymore.

When unofficial leader DeeDee unexpectedly quits, things begin to unravel. The girls are getting older and bolder and they know what they want, what they really, really want.

Presented as part of New Ghosts’ innovative IGNITE Collective, Girl Band features the work of 24 incredible female and non-binary artists. Get ready for dancing, Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopes inspired rap, low-rise jeans, and a hell of a lot of mess.

This production was supported by Create NSW and the City of Parramatta Council.

Approximate Duration: 90minutes.

Content Warnings: mature themes and swearing – including talk of sexual abuse and eating disorders. No action relating to these issues is depicted on stage, but they are presented thematically within the play.
